Biofuel production with CCS as a strategy for creating a CO2
The potential rate-constraining mechanisms are The kinetics of lignocellulose hydrolysis under the conditions of high temperature and dilute acid (mass fraction 0.05%) was investigated in this paper. By studying the reducing sugar concentration versus reaction temperature (170°C–220°C) and reaction time (150–1800 s) during the hydrolysis process of five kinds of crop straw (rice 2016-9-4 · Keywords Lignocellulose hydrolysis, cellulase, pretreatment, wheat straw, yield optimization ISBN (printed) 978-952-60-6931-9 ISBN (pdf) 978-952-60-6930-2 ISSN-L 1799-4934 ISSN (printed) 1799-4934 ISSN (pdf) 1799-4942 Chapter 19 A Systems View of Lignocellulose Hydrolysis Deepti Tanjore and Tom L. Richard Introduction For 475 million years terrestrial plants have waged an evolutionary battle with lignocellulose for enzymatic hydrolysis, or as the actual method of hydrolysis to ferment-able sugars. Dilute-acid pretreatment can be performed either with a short retention time (e.g. 5 min) at high temperature (e.g.

Lignocellulose can come from biomass such as wheat straw, corn stover, municipal waste, or energy crops. First, these by-products are broken down into a pulp. Enzymes are then added, turning cellulose in the biomass into sugar which can then be fermented into cellulosic ethanol. This conversion process is called lignocellulosic hydrolysis. Hydrolysed lignocellulose represents a source of renewable energy that can be converted to ethanol by fermentation. The carbohydrate fraction of lignocellulosic feedstocks is composed of monosaccharides, such as glucose, xylose, mannose, galactose, and arabinose. LIGNOCELLULOSE HYDROLYSIS 309 substance, slightly modified as the hemicellulose is removed, is termed lignin.
4.1 Acid hydrolysis The main advantage of the acid hydrolysis is that acids can penetrate lignin without any preliminary pretreatment of biomass, … Reduction in the adsorption of cellulase onto lignin has been thought to be the common reason for the improvement of enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulose (EHLC) by a nonionic surfactant (NIS). Few research studies have focused on the relationship between lignocellulosic features and NIS for improving EHLC.

A number of lignocellulose pre-treatment technologies are lignocellulose for enzymatic hydrolysis, or as the actual method of hydrolysis to ferment-able sugars. Dilute-acid pretreatment can be performed either with a short retention time (e.g. 5 min) at high temperature (e.g. 180°C), or at lower temperatures (e.g.

Improvements in enzymatic hydrolysis for production of bioethanol from sustainable biomass are necessary in order to reduce enzyme requirements and the overall processing times. Conventional techniques for pretreatment of lignocelluloses are quite costly, time-consuming, and also require substantial downstream processing. Ultrasound can be effectively used to improve the hydrolysis process by Kadic, A & Lidén, G 2017, ' Does sugar inhibition explain mixing effects in enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulose? ', Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, vol.
